UVa Football how amazing, I’m going to a bowl
Hello, I am going to try to update this piece more often. Sorry for anybody who is a faithful visitor to the site. I am pretty much over the sickness period for this year. It usually happens once a year, when I get little sleep and moderately stressed over exams. This will is going to be relaxing for me, I have 4 classes between Monday and Tuesday, but no homework, labs, or exams. Happy Thanksgiving everybody, I hope that everybody will have a great break from classes or work or whatever it is that you do. The school servers were all messed up last week when class registration started for classes and eventually they wiped everybody out of the system and registration is going to restart today. They have limited the load a lot from the usual amount the server takes to prevent another catastrophe like last week. I personally think they would run the entire system of my fantastic computer to alleviate all problems.
The past two football games have been amazing I must say. If you get a chance to attend a UVa home football it is definitely worth it. UVa beat NC State and Maryland the past two weeks. Amazing playing by UVa, I must say. After UVa mopped up Maryland the fans rushed the field. This was my second time rushing the field since I have been here, pretty fun stuff. The really ‘smart’ UVa kids didn’t look so smart as they were trying to tear the goal posts down but with no success whatsoever. I guess the wonderful UVa Engineering School is too smart for the average UVa kid.
The yearly elections were help at Pi Lam yesterday. Although I didn’t get the position I really wanted, I am excited on a new start with new leaders. All of the underclassmen cleaned the football stadium after the Maryland game on Saturday. It took us under 3 hours to cover the whole stadium and clean it up. It was a fun time for the most part, except I not walk lopsided now because I was always bending over to pick up trash the exact same way each time.
I have more pictures that should be appearing on my site at some point in the near future. I have a few (but not enough) of the fourth years’ fifths and some of the football game and other stuffs. I also ran the 4th year 5K at 8am on Saturday. I was really slow (21:27) for a 25th place. I learned that I can not run like I used to. I went out with the leaders of the pack and was not able to stay with them. This didn’t used to be the case, I used to expect myself to stay with the leaders and finish not far behind, but not anymore. I was really hoping for around 20 minutes, but oh well. I am just a fat, old, lazy man now. I will work on ridding myself of that plague. I’m off to class now, I will setup a feedback form soon, and ask me some questions or something. I really am looking for ideas on how to make this site more interesting. Have fun fellas.
It’s been a while, and I’m a sick puppy dawg…
Hello visitors. I have not updated this site in quite some time. I’m sorry, I meant to post updates at least weekly if not more. So it’s been a while and I’ll give you a quick summary of what has happened in the past several weeks.
First, I never made it to the Colonnade Ball. I waited too long to get something formal like that together, I think girls want more than a few hours notice to get ready to go to something formal like that. Oh well, girls are way complicated.
The following week was Halloween week. That week turned out to be pretty eventful. I got all of my homework done by Wednesday so I went out to bars to have a relaxing evening making fun of my friends and also getting made fun of. After a few drinks a girl was desperate enough to ask me to her semi-formal. Which of course I consented. Thursday was Halloween and my fraternity was having a date function. Somehow I managed to find a date. Of course, me being the computer nerd that I am, I asked her to go over email. I dressed as a fraternity boy (plaid pants, sandals, polo shirt, collar up, and Greek letters) and my date, Lauren, was dressed a Madonna. Even though the atmosphere was pretty weak, but it was still fun. Then led to Saturday, the Sigma Kappa date function with Kelly. It was a romantic evening with Kelly. It started with her picked me up and her meeting her cousin for the first time. We then went to the sorority house where we had a wonderful dinner with lots of wine. I managed to make a fool of myself as usual. I was talking to this girl and I stated that “the French are messed up in their ways.” Of course her reply was, “I am French.” After the meal and desert we proceeded over to SERP. We stayed there for the rest of the night, until we made our way home. Many Pi Lam’s were there as well. It was a fun night, although apparently I missed some of the things that happened that night.
After such a relaxing week, of course the next week is followed by pure torture. Three exams again: ECE 323 – Signals and Systems, PHYS 241 – General Physics II, and ECE 309 – Electromagnetic Fields. I studied all Sunday and Monday for the 323 exam, only to get into the exam and realize this is not what I had prepared for. Even though I knew the homework and notes inside out, it turns out that I would leave the exam with major portions missing. A quote by one person (Aaron) sums up the general feeling of the class: “Jacka$$ Of the Indiscriminate Period of Time: Yibin Zheng for giving the hardest fu©!ing test since Jesus submitted his application for Son-of-God.” The physics exam went well, a lot was due to the fact that in ECE 309 we are covering the exact same material except more in-depth. The 309 exam was challenging as expected. It consisted of 3 problems from 3 chapters. It’s amazing that an exam with 3 problems can cause so much anxiety. As the professor was handing out exams and writing some equations on the board, several obscenities were uttered. I looked around the room during the exam and saw several people just sitting there, not writing, with pages that were completely blank. We will see how it went in a while.
Finally, I managed to get sick because of the lack of sleep of the exams. And I think that the 41 minute run right after the 309 exam might not have helped, considering I was feeling bad all day. But I needed to relieve some stress. So I stayed in both Friday and Saturday nights, doing nothing real productive.
I hope this week will be an easy one. I was offered another job this past week. We will see how that goes, I hope they don’t want me to do boring mundane stuff. Work isn’t fun unless you are challenged and learning new things. I also ran across a slightly funny site about IT people. Some of the stated issues have happened to me many times, I just want some people to take a hint, it isn’t always simple. Considering I am fixing two computers this weekend I have ran across some more of them, along with the usual bombardment of questions on how to do other computer tasks.
