The Book of Romance by Tommy Nelson

personal No Comments »

I recently finished reading The Book of Romance by Tommy Nelson. I thoroughly enjoyed this book all the way through. I know that I am horribly unromantic and really know how to mess up dating relationships. That was my main motivation for reading this book - I want to learn how to not mess up my next dating relationship (if there is one - I hope there will be). I want to treat the next girl I date the best I can and foster the best relationship possible and not have to learn everything the hard way. When reading the book I highlighted aspects that I felt were relevant to me. I have compiled those excerpts here for all. I recommend reading the book yourself. Many of these thoughts may be disjointed, but the purpose is for this to act as a reminder for me in my own relationships.

How does sex affect dating relationships?

personal 16 Comments »

I was talking with a friend recently about how premarital sex effects dating relationships. I want to know what you think about the subject matter. It seems that when in fairly serious dating relationships, the fact that one has had sex with the previous significant other bothers the partner. But, what about it is bothersome? That is something that I would really like to understand. Yes it bothers people, but why? I can think of a few reasons, but I wonder if there is something else. Does it just bother the partner or does it bother oneself as well? What exactly does the non-virgin label carry with it? A nonchalant mistake? An act of love? Does this act of love ever lose significance? If so, when? Does premarital sex show dedication or rather lack thereof? What changes emotionally, spiritually, physically occur once one loses his/her virginity? Does it matter if on honeymoon night or some other time? How does it make the partner feel? Isn’t that the goal anyways - to give something special to somebody else? So what makes something special and what makes something typical?

Handicapped: Maybe they have more than we do

personal No Comments »

My time spend in the morning service at McLean Bible Church this morning brought to light my self-centered nature. Watching the handicapped gave me some insight into myself. How is those with so much less than me can seem so much more happy? That is counterintuitive as defined by today’s society. Maybe I have it all wrong like the catiplillar in “Hope for the Flowers” by Trina Paulus.

Summer Chi Alpha: My time to share

personal No Comments »

Today it was my responsibility to lead the weekly summer Chi Alpha meeting this week. Twenty-three people came this week for the usual meeting. I guess you would call this meeting a Bible study with some worship, but it is just a time where a different student shares something with the group each week. This week I shared the story of my life and how amazing God’s personal love is for me.

Crazy fun night, this is why UVa is so great

This semester seems be off to a great start. I am currently signed up for 20.5 credits. That may change over the next week; we’ll see where things go. Pi Lam will be having our first party tonight. We have changed the house a whole lot recently – dual level stage, dancing pole, strobe light, colored lights, additional bar, bright yellow porch, and blue shutters. Doesn’t that sound like fun? Yea, this semester is going to be lots of fun, too bad there are only two semesters left. Read on about what I have been up to the first few days.

Some more insight into me.

personal No Comments »

I have recently spent a fair amount of time taking these little psychological tests online. They are pretty fun and most of the time they are fairly accurate. Nevertheless, a few of the results show something that I don’t believe I really am. These are definitely not perfect and on many occasions I had to choose an answer I didn’t really feel was the answer I was looking for. But either way a lot of it is on target and I’m proud of it, because that is what I was shooting for. I took these tests at www.emode.com incase you wanted to try some out yourself. I hope you have a fun journey through how I work…Take a look at the previous post for even more test results.

An update finally: A little bit of psychological info about me

I know I haven’t updated my website in quite some time. I have just recently moved over to a new host that is cheaper and has great customer support. I haven’t quite fixed up everything yet on the new host, but it’s getting close. School will be starting up in less than a week, and I have a lot of work I need to get done before that. Somehow it will all get done and hopefully not too late. Read on to hear how I scared on some of the tests from emode.com.
